Tarun Kumar Pithode (IAS) has assumed charge as the new full-time Member Secretary of the Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (CAQM)

New Delhi: Tarun Kumar Pithode, a 2009-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has assumed charge as the new full-time Member Secretary of the Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (CAQM).

Prior to this appointment, Pithode was serving as Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). His appointment as Member Secretary of CAQM will be for a tenure of five years, up to September 8, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

He succeeds Arvind Kumar Nautiyal, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME, 1992 batch), who previously held the position.

The Commission for Air Quality Management is the statutory body responsible for formulating and implementing policies and measures to improve air quality in the NCR and adjoining areas, coordinating efforts among various state governments and agencies to tackle air pollution effectively.
