HPCL commissions new retail outlet to help prisoners in Andhra Pradesh

The objective of this retail outlet is to provide employment to reformed prisoners and help them in rehabilitation

New Delhi: In a unique initiative to benefit the society, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) in association with Andhra Pradesh Prison Department commissioned a retail outlet at the Superintendent District Jail in Vijayawada with an objective to provide employment to reformed prisoners and help them in rehabilitation.

The revenue earned from the retail outlet will be transferred to the prisons development fund and will be used to develop the prisons and its facilities to reform the prisoners.

The retail outlet was inaugurated by the DG -Prisons & Correction Services Ahsan Reza (IPS), in presence of IG (Prisons) G Jayavardhan, Govt of Andhra Pradesh along with HPCL's Chief Manager (Retail Engineering) Rebba Ambedkar and other officials.

Reza, during his address, informed that about 20 prisoners are currently engaged for catering to customer needs at the retail outlet. He appealed to the people of Vijayawada to patronize this retail outlet to help in reforming the prisoners and make them as law-abiding citizens. He extended his gratitude to HPCL for this noble cause.
