Skill Development: NCL to train 500 local youth in Plastic Engineering

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has geared up for Rs 3.5 crores 'Skill Development Project' under which 500 local youth to be trained in Plastic Engineering

New Delhi: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) on Friday said will train 500 local youth, living in and around the operational areas of NCL, in the Plastic Engineering trade and ensure their job readiness in the competitive market. This training will be organised with the help of the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Chennai.

In this regard, an MoU has been signed between the holding company of NCL, Coal India Limited and (CIPET), Chennai earlier.

For the selection of candidates, NCL in association with CIPET has organised two days screening sessions in Block B, Nigahi, and Khadia projects and subsequently 345 eligible candidates were selected for this Skill Development program. The remaining candidates will be selected in the next screening rounds.

NCL will spend Rs 70,000 per trainee under CSR for this residential training program, containing course fee, course material, uniform, training kit, accommodation, and other overhead charges.

The selected candidates will be imparted training in plastic processing, injection molding, blow molding, plastic recycling, etc., by CIPET at its centers located at Bhopal, Gwalior, and Lucknow. This training program has been prepared as per the norms set by the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) and approved by the National Skill Qualification Committee (NSQC).

Notably, NCL has spent around Rs 130 crores In the year 2020-21, and set the target to spend Rs 132.75 crores in year 2021-22 on CSR activities.

NCL is a Singrauli based Miniratna company of the government. It operates with 10 highly mechanized opencast coal mines and accounts for 15 percent of national coal production. The company had produced over 115 million tonnes of coal in the last fiscal.
