New Delhi: A famous commercial issued by Steel PSU SAIL says there is a bit of SAIL in everyone's life but when it comes to India's indigenous artillery gun, it is more appropriate to say- there is a lot of SAIL in Dhanush. Reason? Steel Authority of India Limited has supplied special quality forging steel for India's total indigenous and biggest artillery gun 'Dhanush', which was inducted into Indian Army on April 08, 2019. A press release issued by maharatna PSU says "With this, SAIL has once again established its commitment to fulfilling country's every requirement and strengthening India's defence systems".

"It is a matter of great pride for us that SAIL steel is being used in India's various defence programs along with being used for building country's infrastructure. SAIL is ready to meet and supply special grade steels for the technical requirement of country's defence programs."

SAIL's special alloy steel produced by SAIL-Alloy Steels Plant-based at Durgapur has been used for making this artillery gun. 'Dhanush' has been indigenously designed and developed by the Ordnance Factory Board(OFB) in Jabalpur where it was handed over to the Indian Army yesterday.

'Matter of pride for SAIL'

Anil Kumar Chaudhary, Chairman, SAIL, in a press statement said, "It is a matter of great pride for us that SAIL steel is being used in India's various defence programs along with being used for building country's infrastructure. SAIL is ready to meet and supply special grade steels for the technical requirement of the country's defence programs."

Keeping national interest ahead

SAIL, which is in its 60th year of production, has contributed to creating a strong foundation for modern India and at the same time meeting every requirement of special quality steel for Indian defence. SAIL steel has been used in the country's various defence programs including INS Vikrant, INS Kiltan, INS Kamorta, MBT Arjun etc.

SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant has also been supplying special grade steel to Jabalpur's Gun Factory to meet its various technical requirements related to development and repair.
