New Delhi: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) organised the 8th edition of its annual Flower Show at Indian Oil Nagar, Site-I, Noida, with the event inaugurated by Arvind Kumar, Director (Refineries) with additional charge of Director (Pipelines).
The two-day event featured over 15,000 flowerpots displaying nearly 60 varieties of flowers, plants and shrubs, including new additions such as peony, hyacinth, hybrid hibiscus, lupin, obconica and cockscomb. The flower show forms part of a long-standing tradition held across all refineries of the company during the season, reflecting its focus on sustainability, green living and promotion of local flora and fauna.
Addressing participants and visitors, Arvind Kumar appreciated the efforts behind the vibrant floral displays, noting that they reflected a strong connection with nature. He highlighted that spending time amid greenery helps reduce stress, brings peace, and fosters positivity — an important need in today’s fast-paced professional environment. He also underlined the role of family participation, especially that of children, in strengthening township bonds and encouraging environmental responsibility.
The event included competitions under 21 categories, featuring more than 150 exhibits such as potted plants, balcony gardens, cut flower arrangements, buttonholes and a “Best from Waste” theme promoting the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle. A children’s drawing competition was also organised as part of the celebrations.
Prizes across categories, including the “Best Show” and “Queen of the Show” titles, were presented by the chief guest. The programme also featured cultural performances by children centred on flower-inspired themes, adding a festive touch to the event.
