SJVN organises dam safety awareness program at NJHPS

New Delhi/Shimla: SJVN Limited on Monday organised a Dam Safety Awareness Program at Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS) in association with the National Dam Safety Authority at Jhakri in Himachal Pradesh.

The programme aimed at enhancing public awareness on dam safety and promoting proactive measures for risk mitigation and emergency preparedness.

According to an official statement, the initiative focused on dam safety, disaster preparedness, flood management and community participation.

Speaking on the occasion, SJVN's Director (Personnel) Ajay Kumar Sharma said the programme highlighted the importance of coordinated stakeholder engagement, public awareness and environmental responsibility in promoting a culture of dam safety.

The programme was inaugurated by Amit Sharma and Saurabh Agarwal. In his welcome address, Rajeev Kapoor said such initiatives were being organised to strengthen community awareness in the region.

During the event, experts and officials from the India Meteorological Department, National Disaster Response Force, Indian Space Research Organisation, National Remote Sensing Centre and state administration delivered presentations on dam safety, disaster management, weather forecasting and community participation.

The programme also featured a community interaction session, awareness march by students, tree plantation drive and skit performances focused on flood safety and disaster awareness.
