ACC clears Alok Verma’s selection for Director (HR) of HAL

Alok Verma, who was serving as General Manager (HR), has been appointed as Director (HR) of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)

New Delhi: The Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Alok Verma as Director (HR) of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a Navratna PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence on December 27. 'He has been appointed for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post on or after January 1, 2020, till November 30, 2022, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier,' said an order from the Department of Defence Production. Prior to this, he was serving as General Manager (HR) in the same organisation.

The name of Verma was recommended for the post of Director (HR) of HAL by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on September 6. He was selected from a list of three candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. With his promotion, Verma will replace VM Chamola, who is serving since July 27, 2011.

Education & background

Verma holds a post-graduate diploma in Computer Applications from Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. He has completed Bachelor's in law from Jiwaji University, Madhya Pradesh and Master in Art from Patna University.

Verma joined HAL as General Manager (HR) at the Aircraft Manufacturing Division, Nasik (MH) in June 2006. Later he was moved to Avionics Division, Hyderabad in June 2012. He was appointed there as Additional General Manager (HR) in July 2014. Verma joined HAL's corporate office Bangalore as General Manager (HR) in July 2017. Prior to joining HAL, he has also served several positions in National Fertilizer Limited.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)

HAL is an Indian state-owned aerospace and defence company and it has its headquarter in Bangalore. It is governed under the management of the Indian Ministry of Defence. The corporation is primarily involved in the operations of the aerospace and is currently involved in the design, fabrication and assembly of aircraft, jet engines, helicopters and their spare parts.
