Anil Kapoor is new Director (HR) of BHEL

New Delhi: Anil Kapoor has assumed charge as Director (HR) of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, on Wednesday. Prior to this appointment, he was heading the HR and Corporate Communication functions as Executive Director (ED) in the same organisation.

As Director (HR) of BHEL, Kapoor has 37 years of holistic and hands-on experience in the areas of quality, technology and manufacturing functions in addition to human resource management. Kapoor is people-oriented and has been instrumental in implementing various innovative and flagship projects conceived by the government like Skill Development, Udyan Shalini, Swachh Bharat, and cashless initiatives.

Background

Kapoor is an Electrical Engineering graduate from IIT Roorkee. He has also done a certificate course on 'Statistical Quality Control & Operations Research' from Indian 'Statistical Institute, Chennai'. He started his career with BHEL as an engineer trainee at the company's corporate office in New Delhi. Later, he moved to its Heavy Electricals Equipment Plant (HEEP), Haridwar, where he contributed in various areas and different capacities.

Achievements

Under his leadership, BHEL has been honoured with various awards and accolades in the areas of HR excellence, safety and corporate communications responsibility (CSR). Kapoor had also been honoured with BHEL Excel award twice for innovative technological developments.
