DA Bharathan appointed as DS in Department of Expenditure

New Delhi: DA Bharathan, who was recommended for Central deputation by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), has been selected for appointment as Deputy Secretary (DS) in the Department of Expenditure, said an order from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday. She has been appointed as DS in the Department of Expenditure, under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier, the order added.

DA Bharathan is an Indian Post & Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service (IP&TAFS) officer of the 2008 batch.

Department of Expenditure

The Department of Expenditure is the nodal Department for overseeing the public financial management system (PFMS) in the Central government and matters connected with the finances. The principal activities of the Department include pre-sanction appraisal of major schemes/projects (both Plan and non-Plan expenditure), handling the bulk of the Central budgetary resources transferred to states, implementation of the recommendations of the Finance and Central Pay Commissions, etc.

The business allocated to the Department of Expenditure is carried out through its Establishment Division, Plan Finance I and II Divisions, Finance Commission Division, Staff Inspection Unit, Cost Accounts Branch, Controller General of Accounts, and the Central Pension Accounting.
