New Delhi: Government-owned Navratna company PFC (Power Finance Corporation) has sealed its office premises for three days after one of the directors of the company is believed to have tested positive for COVID-19 in the preliminary test. The news comes as the total tally of confirmed Coronavirus cases in Delhi reached 4,549 after a total of 427 patients were reported in a single day.

Senior executives, along with mid-senior-level executives at PSUs, have been going to work, as and when required. PSUs have said that only a small percentage of the entire workforce reports for work and social distancing norms are followed.

PFC Director (Finance) tests positive for COVID-19 in rapid test

Sources at PFC said that the company's Director (Finance) has tested positive for COVID-19 in the rapid test and the results of a swab test are expected to come in tomorrow. "The Director (Finance) was in office till Friday and had conducted meetings. He has now been admitted to Gangaram Hospital and the office premises have been sealed for three days," one of the sources said.

An official spokesperson for PFC said, "All measures are being taken in line with the protocol. The office premises have been sealed and will be fumigated and sanitised."

The backdrop

The news comes a week after one contractual employee at BPCL died of Coronavirus infection and another confirmed case was reported from ONGC's Mumbai office. Starting April 20, PSUs have resumed operations on a number of infrastructure projects in order to create jobs and ensure investment in the economy. Most offices have also resumed work operations, with a nominal staff coming to the office. However, even as employees are following social distancing norms and hygiene practices, new infections are being reported, especially from red zones of Coronavirus infection.
