RSP registers highest-ever hot metal production on a single day

SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant has registered the highest-ever hot metal production for any single day, surpassing its own previous records

Rourkela: Blast Furnace-1 (Parvati) of Steel Authority of India's (SAIL) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has created a new record by producing 3,457 tonnes of hot metal on February 12. The previous best of 3,415 tonnes was recorded on November 11, 2019.

RSP's Executive Director (Works) PK Dash visited the department on Thursday and congratulated the collective for the achievement. RSP's Chief General Manager (Blast Furnaces) R Babu and other senior officers of the department were also present on the occasion.

The feat was achieved with noteworthy contributions from all the associated departments and the determined efforts of the collective. It is worth mentioning here that RSP had registered the highest-ever monthly production of Hot Metal with two Blast Furnaces in operation in January 2020.

Rourkela Steel Plant

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), in Rourkela, Odisha, is the first integrated steel plant in the public sector in India. It was set up in collaboration with West Germany with an installed capacity of 1 million tonnes in the 1960s. It is operated by the Steel Authority of India (SAIL).
