Atanu Bhowmick appointed as SAIL RSP’s Director in-charge

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Atanu Bhowmick as Director in-charge in Steel Authority of India's (SAIL) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP)

New Delhi: Atanu Bhowmick has been appointed as Director in-charge in Steel Authority of India's (SAIL) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Steel for the appointment of Atanu Bhowmick on Wednesday. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Bhowmick has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation i.e. December 31, 2024, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Bhowmick is is an alumnus of the National Institute of Technology (Regional Engineering College) Rourkela. He was recommended for the post of Director in-charge of SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on December 7, 2021. He is currently serving as Executive Director (Operations) at SAIL's Bokaro Steel Plant.

In his new role, Bhowmick will be a member of the Board of Directors of SAIL and will report to the Chairman. He will be overall in-charge of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) and will be responsible for the efficient functioning of the Plant and the concerned mines for achieving the corporate objectives and performance parameters. He will also be responsible for project implementation at the plant or concerned mines and for marketing or sales of products from the plant or concerned mines.
