CI Acharya appointed as Director (Finance) of SCI

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of CI Acharya as Director (Finance) of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) on Wednesday. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Acharya has been appointed to the post with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation, i.e. March 31, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Presently, he is serving as Chief General Manager in Mangalore Refineries & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL).

The Director (Finance) post in SCI is vacant since December 16, 2019. However, SCI's Director (Bulk Carrier & Tankers) Atul Ubale is holding the additional charge of the post. He is also holding the additional charge of CMD post.

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Acharya was recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of SCI on January 8.

As Director (Finance) of SCI, Acharya will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD). He will be overall in charge of the finance and accounts functions of the organisation and will be responsible for evolving and formulating finance policies as well as implementation.
