New Delhi: Jai Prakash Dwivedi is set to be the next Director (Technical) of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL). He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Saturday. He is currently serving as General Manager (Amlohri Coal Area) in Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). Both companies are Miniratna PSUs under the Ministry of Coal.
Dwivedi has been recommended for the post of Director (Technical) of WCL from a list of nine candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. The other candidates, who were on the list were from Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), NLC India Limited, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited.
Dwivedi has over 35 years of vast experience in opencast and underground coal mining. He started his carrier in Coal India in the year 1986 as a mining engineer after completing his graduation in mining engineering from IIT-BHU Varanasi. He has served for 28 years in SECL and another four years in ECL. He has also undergone many training programmes in India and abroad including China, France, and South Africa. He was conferred with the 'Best Engineer Award' by the Institution of Engineers along with other prestigious accolades for his outstanding work in the field of mining.
As Director (Technical) of WCL, Dwivedi will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He also will be responsible for the operation of mines and also of field activities, technical functions and safety of mines.
