New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Prashanth Kumar Balsavar (IRTS) as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited (KIOCL), Bengaluru on April 23. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Balsavar has been appointed to the post for a period of period up-to May 25, 2023 (combined 5 years), from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Balsavar is an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer of the 1991-batch. He is currently serving as Managing Director & CEO of India International Convention and Exhibition Centre Limited (IICC) under the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion.

KIOCL Limited, formerly 'Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited' is a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Steel of Government of India. KIOCL has its head office and administrative activities in Bangalore. It has a pelletisation plant in Mangalore and had an iron ore mine in Kudremukh (Chikkamagaluru district). The Kudremukh mine, one of the largest iron ore mines in the world, was closed in 2006.
