Esha Srivastava (IFS) & Rohit Mathur appointed as Govt Nominee Director of MRPL

Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas' (MoPNG) Rohit Mathur and Esha Srivastava (IFS) have been appointed as Government Nominee Director on the Board of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL)

New Delhi: Rohit Mathur and Esha Srivastava (IFS) have been appointed as Government Nominee Director on the Board of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL). According to an order from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG), both have been appointed to the post with effect from December 10, vice Sunil Kumar, who ceased to be Govt. Nominee Director of MRPL on the same day. This information has been shared by MRPL during the regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Wednesday. 

Profile of Esha Srivastava 

Srivastava is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of 2004 batch. She is currently serving as Director (IC) in the Petroleum Ministry. She completed her postgraduation in Political Science (Honors) from Lady Shri Ram College of Delhi University. She is the recipient of the prestigious Dr Karan Singh Gold Medal for topping Delhi University at postgraduation level. She had served in the Permanent Delegation of India to UNESCO in Paris and in the Indian High Commission or Embassy in Sri Lanka and Bhutan. She has also served in the Ministry of External Affairs as Under Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Europe West Division, and Director. Her last assignment was as the Deputy Chief of Mission in Thimphu.

Profile of Rohit Mathur

Rohit Mathur is a Mechanical Engineer from Thapar College of Engineering, Patiala and has also completed Master of Finance and Control (MFC) from Delhi University. He is currently serving as Joint Secretary (G) in the Petroleum Ministry. He joined the Petroleum Ministry in March 2019 and is presently handling matters relating to Refineries sector, Biofuels, petrochemicals, crude oil supply and flagship programmes. Prior to this, he had served in the Ministry of Agriculture (Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare), Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs), Department of Biotechnology and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL)

Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) is an oil refinery at Mangalore and is a subsidiary of ONGC, set up in 1988. The refinery is located at Katipalla, north from the centre of Mangalore city. The refinery was established after displacing five villages of Bala, Kalavar, Kuthetoor, Katipalla, and Adyapadi. The refinery has a versatile design with high flexibility to process crudes of various API gravity and with a high degree of automation. MRPL has a design capacity to process 15 million metric tonnes per annum and is the only refinery in India to have two hydrocracker-producing premium diesel (high cetane). It also has a Polypropylene unit with a capacity of 4,40,000 MT/annum. It is also the only refinery in India to have two CCRs producing unleaded petrol of high octane.
