Addressing the Eastern India Regional Students’ Conference ‘Gyanothhan 2026’, organised by The Institute of Cost Accountants of India in Bhubaneswar, Das said India’s installed renewable energy capacity has grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11 percent from 76 GW in FY14 to 275 GW in FY26. He noted that the country added a record 54.59 GW renewable energy capacity during FY26, helping India emerge as the world’s third-largest renewable energy market and achieve 50 percent non-fossil fuel capacity five years ahead of the 2030 target.

Drawing a comparison with IREDA’s performance, Das said the company’s loan book increased at a CAGR of 27 percent from Rs 27,850 crore in FY21 to Rs 93,051 crore in FY26. He attributed the growth to the organisation’s focus on innovation and first-mover financing in emerging sectors such as bio-energy and green hydrogen, along with efforts to reduce turnaround time for borrowers.

He added that IREDA’s financing initiatives have contributed to environmental sustainability by helping reduce carbon emissions and creating indirect employment opportunities for professionals and informal workers.

Sharing lessons on resilience, Das referred to IREDA’s initial public offering (IPO), which succeeded on its third attempt in November 2023 and was oversubscribed 38.8 times. He said the company later emerged as one of India’s leading value creators between November 2023 and November 2024 and was the only public sector enterprise featured in the list recognised by The Economic Times.

Encouraging students to think beyond marks, degrees and placements, Das urged them to focus on solving real-world problems and creating long-term value for society. He also described teachers as “nation builders” responsible for inspiring students, building character and instilling values.

Highlighting the role of youth in shaping the future, Das said the world is changing rapidly and professionals must adapt with clarity, commitment and conviction. He also shared that yoga and meditation form an integral part of IREDA’s daily work culture to ensure clarity of thought and sustained excellence.
