New Delhi: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), the Singrauli-based flagship arm of Coal India Limited, has achieved its annual coal production target of 140 million tonnes ahead of schedule for the financial year 2025–26.

The milestone was reached on March 30, after the first shift, underscoring the company’s strong operational performance. With 10 highly mechanised opencast mines, NCL has maintained a consistent track record of meeting its annual production targets for over a decade.

The company has emerged as a key pillar in supporting India’s energy security, particularly in the current energy landscape where domestically produced coal continues to serve as a reliable backbone for the power sector. NCL’s sustained and enhanced production has played a vital role in ensuring uninterrupted coal supply to thermal power plants across the country.
