New Delhi: State-run mining major NMDC Limited, India’s largest iron ore producer, has inaugurated its new international office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, marking a major milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy.
The strategic move marks a significant step in NMDC’s ambition to become a multinational mining powerhouse, with the Dubai office set to serve as a hub for tracking global developments in the mineral sector across the MENA region, Africa, and Australia.
According to the company, the Dubai office will play a vital role in identifying mineral assets, conducting technical due diligence, and strengthening engagements with governments, business partners, and research institutions. It will also provide real-time market intelligence and confidential insights, aiding NMDC’s leadership in making informed and timely decisions on global opportunities.
“Dubai represents a gateway to global opportunity. With this new office, NMDC is poised to redefine the mining landscape,” said NMDC CMD. “Our expansion is revolutionizing our approach to mineral development and securing India’s position as a leader in the global mining industry.”
As part of its mineral diversification strategy, NMDC is currently evaluating acquisition opportunities across 10 strategic mineral assets worldwide. The company is also exploring critical mineral blocks in Africa, Australia, and South America to strengthen its footprint in the global critical minerals value chain.
The Dubai office was inaugurated on June 30, by the Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries HD Kumaraswamy, in the presence of dignitaries including Indian Ambassador to the UAE HE Sunjay Sudhir; NMDC's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Amitava Mukherjee; SAIL's Chairman Amarendu Prakash; Consul General of India in Dubai Satish Kumar Sivan; Ministry of Steel's Joint Secretary Vinod Kumar Tripathi; and other senior officials from the Ministry of Steel, the Indian Embassy in UAE, and the Indian Consulate in Dubai.
The Dubai office is expected to serve as a strategic nerve center, enabling NMDC to respond with greater agility to global market dynamics and forge new partnerships in Mining Equipment and Technology Services (METS).
This international expansion aligns with the Government of India’s broader vision of securing critical mineral supplies and positioning Indian PSUs as competitive players in the global resource sector.
