New Delhi: State-owned power major NTPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited have signed a Supplementary Joint Venture Agreement (SJVA-III) for Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited (MUNPL), paving the way for the expansion of the Meja Stage-II thermal power project in Uttar Pradesh.

The agreement was signed in Lucknow on June 4, to incorporate provisions related to the enhancement of Meja Stage-II's installed capacity from 2x660 MW to 3x800 MW in the existing Joint Venture Agreement (JVA).
MUNPL is a 50:50 joint venture between NTPC and UPRVUNL and is responsible for the development and operation of the Meja thermal power project in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of the Managing Director of UPRVUNL. The event was also attended by the Chief Executive Officer of MUNPL and senior officials from NTPC, UPRVUNL and MUNPL.
The capacity enhancement is expected to strengthen power availability in Uttar Pradesh and contribute to meeting the state's growing energy demand. The project will also support the broader objective of improving generation efficiency through advanced supercritical technology.
