New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise and the country’s largest power transmission utility, has been declared the successful bidder under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process for a key inter-state transmission project.
The project, titled “Inter-Regional Strengthening between SR Grid and WR Grid”, will be executed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis. Power Grid received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for the project on September 29, 2025.
As part of the awarded project, Power Grid will develop 765 kV double circuit transmission lines traversing through Karnataka and Maharashtra, along with associated line bays at both ends.
The initiative is expected to significantly enhance inter-regional power transfer capacity between the Southern and Western grids, thereby strengthening the reliability and resilience of the national power transmission network.
Power Grid, with its extensive transmission network and expertise, continues to play a pivotal role in developing India’s power infrastructure, supporting the government’s vision of a robust and integrated national grid.
