New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has called on the Railway Ministry to reinforce railway security, particularly stressing on the need to examine the online system for filing a First Information Report (FIR).  At a conference called by the Ministry of Railways, Singh asked the meeting's participants to consider improvements in patrolling, frisking and alerts during emergencies.

"Rajnath Singh suggested that we need to explore the system of online FIR which will expedite investigation and help in controlling crimes. He added that trains pass through areas which are affected by Maoism and insurgency and he, therefore, stressed upon the paramilitary forces to have theatre-specific SoPs to meet these challenges," an official release said.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal lauded the paramilitary forces for their brave efforts in their service to the country under all circumstances.

"Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways and Coal, congratulated and complimented the paramilitary forces for their bravery and courage in serving the country in any condition. He stressed upon the need to build the confidence of passengers while travelling and urged RPF to be friendly towards passengers. He complimented women squads for doing exceptional work."

"He informed that 6,000 CCTVs at stations are being procured and cyber-crime cells are being made functional," the release added.
