New Delhi: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSU under the Ministry of Power, has successfully handed over two Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) projects to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). The SPVs, namely Bidar Transco Limited and Khavda V-B1B2 Power Transmission Limited, were transferred at a formal event held in Gurugram.
Power Grid has been designated as the Transmission Service Provider (TSP) for both projects through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process, which was conducted by RECPDCL as the Bid Process Coordinator. The projects will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
RECPDCL's CEO TSC Bosh formally handed over transfer documents to Power Grid's Executive Director Pankaj Pandey. The event was attended by senior officials from RECPDCL, Power Grid, and the Central Transmission Utility of India Limited.
These transmission projects play a crucial role in strengthening India’s power infrastructure. The Bidar Transco Limited project aims to enhance transformation capacity at the Bidar Pooling Station in Karnataka, while the Khavda V-B1B2 Power Transmission Limited project focuses on increasing transformation capacity at KPS1 and KPS2 substations in Gujarat to facilitate the evacuation of renewable energy from power generators.
The implementation period for both projects is set at 24 months, reinforcing the government’s commitment to expanding and modernizing the power transmission network to support India’s growing energy needs.
