New Delhi: SJVN Limited on Tuesday said that it has signed a series of crucial agreements with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) for power supply from its upcoming hydroelectric projects.
The agreements include a Power Sale Agreement (PSA) with UPPCL for the supply of power from the 900 MW Arun-III Hydro Electric Project, being developed in Nepal, and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for two hydro projects under construction in Himachal Pradesh—the 210 MW Luhri Stage-I and 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Projects.
The signing ceremony was held at SJVN’s Liaison Office in New Delhi in the presence of SJVN Limited's Chairman & Managing Director (Addl. Charge) Bhupender Gupta and Director (Projects) Sushil Sharma.
Commenting on the development, Gupta said, “These agreements mark a significant step towards realizing SJVN’s commitment to the clean energy transition and strengthening power infrastructure for urban consumers.”
The PSA for the Arun-III project was signed between SJVN Limited's Chief General Manager (Power Trading) RK Gupta and UPPCL's Director (Corporate Planning) Deepak Raizada. The PPAs for the Luhri Stage-I and Sunni Dam projects were signed by SJVN's General Manager (C&SO) Ashok Kumar and UPPCL's Director (Corporate Planning) Deepak Raizada.
The Arun-III Hydro Electric Project, with an installed capacity of 900 MW, is being developed in Sankhuwasabha district of Nepal through SJVN’s wholly owned subsidiary, SJVN Arun-3 Power Development Company Pvt. Ltd. The project is expected to be commissioned by FY 2027-28 and will contribute significantly to India’s renewable energy basket upon completion.
The Luhri Stage-I and Sunni Dam projects, both located on the River Satluj in Himachal Pradesh, are scheduled for commissioning by December 2028. Together, these projects will add 592 MW of green energy to the National Grid and are projected to generate approximately 2,140 million units (MU) of electricity annually.
