New Delhi: Punjab Cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has been dropped from the popular comedy show, the Kapil Sharma Show, after a remark he made on the Pulwama terrorist attack triggered an uproar on social media. The Indian cricketer-turned-politician, also a self-proclaimed admirer of Pakistan's Imran Khan, has been replaced with Archana Puran Singh, media reports say. The show's producers have reportedly started shooting new episodes with Singh already.

'Entire nation must not be blamed'

Sidhu, who was among the invitees for his 'friend' Imran Khan's swearing-in ceremony as Pakistan's Prime Minister last year, said that terrorism has no religion and no nationality after the Pulwama attacks. He added that an entire nation should not be blamed for the attack.

Responding to the attack, one of the deadliest in Jammu and Kashmir in which over 40 paramilitary police personnel lost their lives, Sidhu had commented, "For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual? It (the attack) is a cowardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished."

"This is a cowardly attack, people responsible for these attacks should be brought to justice. But, taking someone's life is not a solution. Terrorism has no religion. Terrorism has no caste, party and terrorism has no country," he had stated.
