New Delhi: The Board of Directors of Mahanagar Gas Limited has approved the appointment of Baldev Singh (IAS) as Nominee Director (Additional) at its general meeting held on Thursday, said the PSU in a regulatory filing to the stock exchnages. “Singh is not related to any director on the Board of Company. He is not debarred from holding the office of Director by virtue of any Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) order or any other such authority,” the company added.

Singh is a 1989 batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of Maharashtra cadre. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and an MBA with a specialisation in Finance and Marketing. He has done short-term training courses from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Netherlands, in Governance, Democratisation & Public Policy and in Domestic Funding of Foreign Training (DFFT) from Berkeley (UCB), California. He has been recently appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary (Industries), Industry, Energy and Labour Department. Prior to this, he held the post of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Maharashtra.
In his career spanning more than 30 years, Singh has held various positions. Some of the key profiles he has held in the past are Development Commissioner, Santa Cruz Exclusive Export Processing Zone (SEEPZ), Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Mumbai, under the Department of Commerce and Principal Secretary, Labour Department of the Government of Maharashtra.
