Biswarup Das (IRS) appointed as Joint Advisor in NDMA

New Delhi: Biswarup Das (IRS) has been selected for the appointment as Joint Advisor (Mitigation Project and Procurement) in the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Delhi, under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) at the level of Deputy Secretary. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been appointed to the post for a period of four years with effect from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Das is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of 2010-batch. He was recommended for Central Deputation by the Department of Revenue. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)," the order further read.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), headed by the Prime Minister of India, is the apex body for Disaster Management in India. Setting up of NDMA and the creation of an enabling environment for institutional mechanisms at the State and District levels is mandated by the Disaster Management Act, 2005. NDMA is mandated to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for disaster management.
