New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of BN Reddy (IFS) as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Reddy has been appointed as Joint Secretary in Petroleum Ministry for an overall period of three years up-to February 26, 2022.
BN Reddy had completed his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) and post-graduation in Thermal Engineering from IIT, Bombay. Reddy is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of 1993-batch. Prior to this appointment, he had served on various important positions of the government such as Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the Permanent Mission of India, Geneva, High Commissioner of India to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Cameroon etc. He also had served as Director in the Ministry of External Affairs in the Administration Division and Joint Secretary to the External Affairs Minister of India.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) is a ministry of the government. It is responsible for the exploration, production, refining, distribution, marketing, import, export, and conservation of petroleum, natural gas, petroleum products, and liquefied natural gas in India. The ministry is headed by the Union Cabinet Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Dr MM Kutty is the Secretary of the Ministry.
