New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Department of Commerce for entrustment of the additional charge of the post of Chairman, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) to Diwakar Nath Mishra (lAS). According to the order issued on June 8, Mishra has been given additional charge for a period of three months or till a regular incumbent assumes charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is the earliest. Mishra is a 2000-batch IAS officer of Assam cadre. Currently, he is serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce.

Misra has completed his graduation in Hindi and post-graduation in Philosophy with first division. He had served various important positions at the centre level as well as state level. He started his services as SDO (Civil) of Rangia, Assam in 2002. In 2004, he was appointed as Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup District, Assam. Subsequently, he served various positions viz: Joint Secretary of Home & Political Department; Staff Officer in Chief Secretary's Office; Deputy Commissioner of Dhemaji (Assam); Deputy Commissioner, Golaghat (Assam); Member (Deputy Secretary level) in Revenue Department of Assam; Principal Secretary, NC Hills (Haflong); Additional Secretary Panchayat & Rural Development Department in the government of Assam.

At the centre level, he has held as Deputy Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat; Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas; Joint Secretary (Equivalent) in Oil Industry Development Board and Joint Secretary of Department of Commerce and Ministry of Commerce and Industry etc.

Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is an apex body of the government under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. IT is responsible for the export promotion of agricultural products. APEDA was established by the government under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act passed by the Parliament in December 1985.
