

New Delhi/Bilaspur: Coal India Limited (CIL) organised a Coal Consumers Meet for the Power and Non-Regulated Sector (NRS) consumers of its Central and Western Zone at the headquarters of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) in Bilaspur on Tuesday.

The meeting focused on strengthening coordination with consumers and enhancing discussions on coal supply, quality management and operational issues.
The event was attended by SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Harish Duhan, Coal India Director (Marketing) Mukesh Chaudhary, SECL Director (Technical/Operations) N. Franklin Jayakumar and SECL Director (Planning/Projects) Rameshchandra Mahapatra.
Addressing the gathering, Harish Duhan said that SECL remains committed to ensuring timely dispatches and supply of quality coal to consumers. He informed that the company has set a target of 195 million tonnes of coal production and 200 million tonnes of coal offtake during the current financial year.
Coal India Director (Marketing) Mukesh Chaudhary said that Coal India Limited is continuously working to ensure uninterrupted coal supply and reduce quality-related issues and grade slippage. He also assured consumers that the company would take prompt action on key issues and suggestions raised during the meeting.
Around 125 representatives from various Power and NRS sector consumer companies participated in the meet. Discussions were held on coal supply, logistics, quality management and improving coordination between Coal India subsidiaries and consumers.
Senior officials of SECL and Coal India, including General Manager (Sales & Marketing) Ajit Chaudhary, were also present during the event.

Later in the evening, Mukesh Chaudhary and Harish Duhan also held discussions with representatives of the Chhattisgarh Sponge Iron Manufacturing Association and sponge iron industry consumers at the CMD Conference Hall of SECL Headquarters, where various industry-related issues were deliberated upon.
