New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Kalyan Revella (IRS) to the post of Deputy Secretary in the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trademarks (CGPDTM), Mumbai under the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Revella has been appointed to the post for a period of four years or until further orders whichever is earlier.

Revella is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of 2010-batch and currently serving as Joint Commissioner at the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs. He is an Engineering Graduate (B Tech in Civil Engineering) from Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur. He has also done a Fellowship Training at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).

The Head Office of the Patent office is at Kolkata and its Branch offices are located at Chennai, New Delhi and Mumbai. The Trade Marks registry is at Mumbai and its Branches are located in Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad and New Delhi. The Design Office is located at Kolkata in the Patent Office. The Offices of The Patent Information System (PIS) and National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (NIIPM) are at Nagpur.
