New Delhi: Mukesh Kumar (ITS) has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of Cooperation. According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Kumar has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Kumar is an Indian Telecommunication Service (ITS) officer of 2001-batch. He was recommended for the Central deputation by the Department of Telecommunication. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Ministry of Cooperation," the order added.

The Ministry of Cooperation is a newly formed ministry of the government. The ministry provides a separate administrative, legal, and policy framework for strengthening the cooperative movement in the country. The ministry's creation was announced on July 6 along with its vision statement of 'Sahkar se Samriddhi' (Prosperity from cooperation). Before the creation of this ministry, the objectives of this ministry were looked after by the Ministry of Agriculture.
