New Delhi: Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) has signed 18 memoranda of understanding of Rs 14,000 crore with Ports, Ship Builders, Ship Repair Complex, Research Organisation and the Maritime States under "Make in India" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" to achieve self-reliance to develop and to maintain our coastline. The curtain raiser & pre-exhibition hall for the India Maritime Summit was opened on Wednesday by Prof Dr GYV Victor, MD & CEO – Designate. Other senior officials of the company were present. The exhibition shall remain open for the public till March 5.

During the exhibition, DCI signed the historical MoU to construct the first-ever Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger in Indian Shipyard for the first time in India with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL). MoUs have been signed between DCI's Managing Director Rajesh Tripathi and CSL's CMD Madhu Nair. The Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Mansukh Mandaviya, Secretary Dr Sanjeev Ranjan, Additional Secretary Sanjay Bandopadhyaya and Ambassador of Netherlands to India Martin Van Der Berg were present at the occasion. "This is significant as DCI shall echo "Vocal for Local" under "Atma Nirbhar Bharat", mentioned an official statement.

DCI is one of the top 10 dredging companies of the world that own, operate & maintain dredgers to maintain major, non-major, minor, naval ports and harbors. DCI with its capacity shall be able to dredge and address the requirement of all ports, and naval harbour. To equip and augment the capacity of DCI, DCI shall construct Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) under the "Make in India" concept and "AtmaNirbhar Bharat" and this shall be the first time our country shall construct Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger in our Indian shipbuilding yard with international standards.
