NTPC Green Energy commissions 165 MW at Khavda-II Solar Project, total capacity nears 9.73 GW

New Delhi: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has declared commercial operation of a 165 MW solar capacity at its Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat, further strengthening its renewable energy portfolio.

The newly commissioned capacity is part of the 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project being developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NGEL. The fourth phase of 165 MW has been declared commercially operational with effect from 00:00 hours on March 19, 2026, the company said in a regulatory filing.

With this addition, the total commercial capacity of the NGEL group has increased from 9,562.68 MW to 9,727.68 MW.

The Khavda renewable energy zone in Gujarat is one of India’s largest clean energy hubs and plays a crucial role in the country’s ambition to scale up non-fossil fuel capacity. The latest commissioning underscores NTPC Group’s continued push towards expanding its green energy footprint.

NGEL, a key arm of NTPC Limited, has been steadily ramping up its renewable capacity through solar, wind, and hybrid projects as part of India’s broader energy transition strategy.
