New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal for continuation of services of Dr Ashok Dalawai (lAS Retd.) as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Rainfed Area Authority (NRAA) for a further period of two years beyond June 4, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Dalawai is a 1984-batch IAS officer and serving on the position since July 2017.

Ashok Dalwai has had an illustrious career in Development Administration where he has implemented several reforms in the rural agrarian sector in the state of Odisha. In his capacity as the District Collector, both in the states of Odisha and Karnataka he has applied his deep knowledge of the agricultural sector. As a key member of the Banglore Agenda Task Force (BATF), Dr Dalwai envisioned and implemented several infrastructure projects that transformed the City into the Silicon Valley and Garden City of India. He was responsible for introducing the 'Self Assessment Scheme' (SAS) for property taxation which was hailed as a model in Urban Administration all over the country.

Dr Dalwai has held several important positions in the state government like Secretary of the Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Karnataka, Principal Secretary, Industries Department, and Principal Secretary, Steels and Mines, Odisha. He has been the Chairman of various Corporations including Orissa Mining Corporation (OMC), Industrial Development Corporation of Orissa (IDCOL), Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), Industry Promotion and Investment Corporation of Orissa (IPICOL). During this tenure, Dr Dalwai has introduced modern management principles and re-engineered the Corporations into customer-focused organisations.

He served as the Deputy Director-General of UIDAI. In this capacity, he was the Head of the Technology Centre which was responsible for developing and deploying state of the art technology for biometric enrolment and de-duplication. He was also the Head of the Bangalore Region which covers the states of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Pondicherry & Lakshadweep.
