New Delhi: Alok Malviya (IRS) is set to be Director in the Department of Commerce under the Ministry of Commerce. He was recommended for Central deputation by the Department of Revenue. According to an order from Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years with effect from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Malviya is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer 2006-batch. He is currently serving as Jt CIT Palghar Range, Palghar (Income Tax Department).

Department of Commerce

The Department of Commerce is a department under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The department is responsible for formulating, implementing and monitoring the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) which provides the basic framework of policy and strategy to be followed for promoting exports and trade. The trade policy is periodically reviewed to incorporate changes necessary to take care of emerging economic scenarios both in the domestic and international economy. Besides, the department is also entrusted with responsibilities relating to multilateral and bilateral commercial relations, special economic zones, state trading, export promotion and trade facilitation, and development and regulation of certain export-oriented industries and commodities.
