Shimla: As an initiative and outreach of SJVN Limited's Director (Personnel) Geeta Kapur to women, various programs on International Women's Day have been organised across the organisation. Amongst those, a training program for all the women employees and members of Satluj Shree (SJVN's Ladies Club) was organised at Shimla. The training program was conducted by Preeti Monga and Dicky Dolma.

On this occasion, Geeta Kapur said that every woman has to play an important role in empowering women in the society as mothers, as wives, as mothers-in-laws, as daughters, as sisters as colleagues and as friends. It is upon each woman to empower each one. The theme for this year's International Women's Day is #EachforEqual and focus should be to build a society where gender parity comes naturally. Where women are seen as companions throughout life.

Further, she said that when we talk about women empowerment it is not just financial independence but psychological empowerment and confidence to face all difficulties in a challenging life.

Prior to this, Geeta Kapur participated in the program organised at dam site of 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station. In this program women from 31 Mahila Mandals of Nichar block participated. During the program in addition to program highlighting local culture, various other skits on cleanliness and drug abuse were performed by these Mandals.
