Akhileshwar Singh assumes charge as Director (Finance) of SJVN

New Delhi: Akhileshwar Singh has assumed charge as Director (Finance) of SJVN Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Defence, on Monday. Prior to this, Singh was holding the post of Chief General Manager (Finance) of the power PSU. The company also appointed him as Chief Finance Officer (CFO) on November 27, after Amarjit Singh Bindra, who was serving as Director (Finance), resigned from the post. SJVN Limited's CMD Nand Lal Sharma was holding the additional charge of Director (Finance) of the company until Singh joined in on Monday.

The PSU Watch had reported that Singh was recommended for the Director (Finance) of SJVN Limited by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on August 21. He was selected from a list of nine candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. Later, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved his appointment on December 27.

Education & Background

Akhileshwar Singh holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from Patna University. He has more than 30 years of experience in various organisations including SJVN. He started his career in the year 1987 with Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited. He joined SJVN in 1993 as a senior officer (Finance) and worked in various departments and projects and rose to the level of Chief General Manager (Finance).

During his tenure in Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited, he worked at various executive positions and completed various significant assignments. He was associated with Finance and Internal Audit.

In SJVN, he worked at various positions and completed various significant assignments including buyback of shares. He worked in various sections of finance, commercial and system operation, HOD (Finance) of Luhri Hydro Electric Project, HOD (Internal Audit), CFO, SAPDC Nepal and as Chief General Manager (Finance) at corporate headquarters, Shimla.
