New Delhi: (PESB recommendation) Cmde Saurav Deb is set to be next Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of NEPA Limited, a PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Heavy Industry and Public Enterprises. He has been recommended by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Tuesday. He is currently serving as Commander in the Indian Navy. The CMD post in NEPA Limited is vacant since November 1, 2019.
Deb has been recommended to be the next CMD of NEPA Limited from a list of four candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel. Other candidates were from NEPA Limited, Hindustan Newsprint Limited and THDC India Limited.
As CMD of NEPA Limited, Deb will be chief executive of the company and will be accountable to its board of directors and the government/shareholders. He also will be responsible for the efficient functioning of the company, and for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.
NEPA Limited (National Newsprint and Paper Mills Limited), a PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Heavy Industry and Public Enterprises. The object of the company is to produce quality Newsprint as per the demand of the market. The PSU is under the radar of the governments' privatization plan. In this regard, a proposal for providing budgetary support to NEPA Limited for the Revival and Mill Development Plan (RMDP), payment of pending salary/wages, statutory dues, funding voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) and the strategic disinvestment of the company on completion of RMDP has been approved by the Government on October 3, 2018.
