Rajiv Kumar Singh set to be Managing Director of NEHHDC

Rajiv Kumar Singh, who is currently serving as Deputy Director General in Indian Army, has been recommended for the post of Managing Director of North Eastern Handicrafts & Handloom Development Corporation (NEHHDC) Limited

New Delhi: Rajiv Kumar Singh is set to be next Managing Director (MD) of North Eastern Handicrafts & Handloom Development Corporation (NEHHDC) Limited, a PSU under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). Singh has been recommended for the post by a Public Enterprises Selection (PESB) panel on Friday. He was the only person who was interviewed by the selection panel. Currently, he is serving as Deputy Director-General in the Indian Army. The post of Managing Director of NEHHDC is lying vacant since January 1, 2017.

As MD of NEHHDC, Singh will be the chief executive of the corporation and will be accountable to its board of directors and government and shareholders. He also will be responsible for the efficient functioning of the corporation for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters. As on March 31, 2019, the company had employed 48 regular employees (Executives: 13 and Non-executives: 35).

The North Eastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation Limited (NEHHDC) is a Schedule 'C' CPSE in trading and marketing service sector with the administrative jurisdiction of Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region. Its Registered and corporate office is in Guwahati, Assam. The company was set up in March 1977 with its registered office at Shillong (Meghalaya) with the mandate of promotion and development of handicrafts and handlooms of the North Eastern Region of India. Since its inception, the corporation has been spearheading various activities viz., training and design development, awareness generation amongst artisans and weavers, skill upgradation, R&D activities, marketing and exports etc..
