New Delhi: IRCON International Limited, a leading engineering and construction PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has announced the receipt of a significant Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from East Central Railway, Indian Railways. The contract, awarded under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode, is valued at Rs 1,068.34 crore and involves the construction of a major new railway bridge over the River Ganga.
The project entails the construction of a new Broad Gauge (BG) Rail Bridge featuring a combination of two 32.086-meter and thirty-three 122.0-meter Open Web Steel Girders. The bridge will have a double-line track sub-structure and a single-line track superstructure. It is to be constructed between Bikramshila and Katareah stations as part of a new railway line project aimed at enhancing rail connectivity in the region.
IRCON has been entrusted with executing the entire scope of work within a period of 1,460 days (approximately four years). The contract is fully domestic in nature and does not involve any related party transactions or promoter group interests.
The project is a part of Indian Railways’ ongoing infrastructure development initiative and is expected to play a crucial role in improving the rail transport network across Bihar by facilitating smoother movement of freight and passenger trains.
IRCON is a Government-owned company and a prominent player in the infrastructure sector, known for its track record in executing challenging railway, highway, and other infrastructure projects both in India and abroad.
